This is a translation report on the translation of chapter 1 and 2 of Samantha Power's book A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide(hereinafter “the book”).Chapter one reviews how the world responded to the Armenian Genocide and chapter 2delineates Raphael Lemkin made efforts to persuade American government and nongovernment individuals to act against Nazi atrocities in Europe.Samantha Jane Power(1970-)is a diplomat who presently works as the Ambassadors of the United States to the UN.The report contains 4 parts.In chapter 1,the author introduces the book and its author,and then discusses the significance of the translation project and skopos theory chosen for translation practice.In chapter 2,the author describes in detail the entire process of the project regarding preparation,practice and proofreading.The author especially discusses the CAT tools used in the translation process.In chapter 3,actual translation results are used as cases to discuss translation at three levels: lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.In chapter 4,the author summarizes the project regarding experience obtained from practice and discusses limitations of the project and the author himself with respective suggestions.
