The source text of the translation project is from Becoming a Translator: An Introduction to the Theory and Practice of Translation written by Douglas Robinson,an American translation theorist.The book contains a lot of practical information on translation work,for example,how to improve the speed of translation.The translation report is based on the summary and the analysis of Chapter seven and Chapter eight.According to Peter Newmark's opinion,the sourcetextis an informative text whose core is authenticity to highlight the content and enhance the readability of the translated text.Also,the core of Skopos is that any form of translational action may be assumed as an intentional and purposeful action.The purpose of the book is to educate readers,which is to convey the author's ideas and experience.Therefore,Skopos provides a good theoretical support for this translation practice.It reminds the translator convey the original content accurately and consider reading habits of target readers.Finally,the translated text is readable and communicative.Some examples are taken in the report in lexical level,syntactic level and discoursal level and some translation techniques are used.At lexical level,omission,amplification and conversion are used to solve difficult words problems.At syntactic level,division inversion and passive sentence transformation are used to translate complex sentences.At discoursal level,English cohesion in E-C translation is analyzed in details.The translation report summarized some lessons from the translation process.Firstly,some translation theories and methods should be mastered.Secondly,the source text should be fully understood,which is helpful for the translator to choose word correctly and properly.Thirdly,it is necessary to have the good command of English as well as Chinese writing skills.The translation process also shows that there are still some problems to be solved,such as textual understanding.
