D.H.Lawrence was a unique literary genius from Great Britain in the early 20 th century.Born into a mining family, his rich life experiences in the Nottingham mining area gave him both creative inspiration and a distinctive writing perspective which laid a realistic foundation for the descriptions of the industrial area in his literary works. As a microcosm of the British industrial society, the construction of Nottingham mining town in Lawrence's writing not only reflects the social reality in the late 19 th and early 20 th centuries but also endowed his works with rich emotional meaning and cultural connotations, allowing readers to interpret his description of the Nottingham mining area from various angles.Through analyzing daily life, special imagery, and the destruction of the natural landscape within Nottingham mining area, this thesis takes daily living space as the breakthrough point and combines it with the theory of eco-criticism,revealing the wounds of the Nottingham mining area caused by industrial civilization. The serious spiritual crisis in the Nottingham mining area has been presented in this paper through the interpretation of the miners' disciplined body, mining area people's remodeling values, the broken relationship under the constraints of industrial civilization and the loss of life consciousness. As a writer with serious life consciousness and leading ecological awareness,Lawrence begins to search for a spirit habitat under the double threat of destruction of the natural landscape and lack of natural humanity. His hidden hometown complex was presented continuously during his drifting life,on the basis of recollection and reconstruction;he finally found his "spiritual homeland".Nottingham mining town embodies Lawrence's aesthetic attitude;passes his literary creation ideal and gives a richer meaning to his content. The studies on the description of mining in Lawrence's works have practical significance to reflect on the current situation.
