The Contrastive Study On The Quantifiers Between The Modern Chinese Dictionary (6th Edition) And Modern Chinese Standard Dictionary (3rd Edition)

As an extremely rich category in the Modern Chinese vocabulary system,the application of quantifiers are being used more and more frequently no matter in spoken language or written language.This thesis selects the Modern Chinese Dictionary(6th edition)and Modern Chinese Standard Dictionary(3rd edition)as the research object,because they are more authority in modern Chinese.Basing on the quantifiers in the two dictionaries,we made a thorough statistics,and then we formed the research object.In this paper,the comparative study focus on the following four aspects.The first aspect is the comparison of the quantifiers entries.We inducted and classified all the entries in the two dictionaries,and compared the similarities and differences between the two dictionaries.Besides,concretely analyzed some differences with help of corpus.The second aspect is the comparison of the sense partitions for quantifiers.We made the case of all the sense partitions reorganized different categories,Furthermore,compared the similarities and differences in the sense partitions,Finally,we verified the existence of differences by some specific instances.The third aspect is the comparison of quantifiers interpretation.We analyzed all the quantifiers in the type of interpretation and linguistic stylistic style,and found out the differences.Finally,we stated the specific differences and the problems which exist in the interpretation.The fourth aspect is the comparison of quantifiers examples.Classified the number and type of all the examples,and found out the specific differences and some problems in the examples of the quantifiers.In this paper,we counted and analyzed all the quantifiers in the two dictionaries.Then,we studied the similarities and differences in entries,sense partitions,interpretation and examples,and analyzed some problems in the quantifiers.
