A Consecutive Interpreting Practice Report On Alice And Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition In Harbin In 2016

Harbin is the great city of hosting the 2016 Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition.And this competition has enjoyed a high reputation around the world.This competition establishes a wonderful platform for the development and exchange of musical culture between China and the world.Consecutive Interpreting plays a role in communicating and helps two sides overcome cultural barriers for completing the competition successfully.How to successfully complete the consecutive interpreting task and attain efficient effect is discussed in this practice report.And it is also a target for which an interpreter is always pursuing.In this practice report,the author focuses on the interpreting practice during 2016 Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition.The report mainly discusses the process of consecutive interpreting in the violin masterclass and on the analysis of the mistakes in the process.Besides,some strategies are put forward aiming at the correcting the mistakes in the process of the consecutive interpreting for avoiding the similar mistakes in the near future.This report contains the following four chapters.The first chapter is the task description of the consecutive interpretation in the violin masterclass.It includes four parts,the background introduction of Schoenfeld International String Competition,the introduction of the client unit,the introduction of the interpreting task and the requirement of interpreting task.In the second chapter,the author divides the whole task into three procedures: the preparatory step before interpreting,the interpreting in progress and the assessment after interpreting.As for the preparation part,the main content is thematic knowledge preparation,interpreting theory preparation,terminology preparation,contingency plan preparation,mental preparation,general information about the teacher as well as the students.And the assessment after interpreting includes two parts,the assessment of the client unit and the assessment of the interpreter.The third part mainly focuses on the analysis of the cases in the violin masterclass,containing two major parts,the analysis of successful cases and the analysis of fault cases.And the former consists of four parts,determining the subject,information recombination,the addition of information and repetition of information;and the latterconsists of six parts,errors at the beginning of the sentence,conjunction errors,pretermission of information,errors of information,redundant language and inappropriate tone.The last part is the conclusion about this task.It mainly discusses the reflection and the summary about the task,and the expectation on the future study and work.This paper has its own value for the study of international string competition interpretation and has its positive significance on promoting international string teaching.
