Interpretive Theory has long been one of the most significant theories in the world of interpreting.Deverbalization is the core of this important theory.According to the theory, the ultimate purpose of interpreting is to pass on information and convey the meaning of information instead of transferring the form of source language. The interpreter has to go through the stage of deverbalization, breaking away from language constraints to achieve communication between people with different languages and cultural backgrounds. This paper, from the perspective of deverbalization of interpretive theory, attempts to analyze the consecutive interpreting strategies employed in rendering official speeches, taking the case of official speeches on the Third World Internet Conference.Chinese official speeches hold several characteristics: for instance, there are plenty of expressions with Chinese characteristics such as four-words phrases, proverbs and Chinese poems;there are many paratactic verbs used together to express a strong mood;there are amount of cultural-loaded expressions with equivalent forms that can't be found in the target language. These features double the difficulty of interpreting both in memorizing and expressing. Thus, through consecutive interpreting practice and its analysis, this paper comes up with five strategies such as “step by step”,"merging”,“simplification”,“verb displacing” and “specification”,in the hope of resolving interpreting difficulties in similar situations.
