This simulated practice report takes the Government Work Report(2016)as the material to represent the consecutive interpretation process. The author conducted this simulated interpretation task when she was studying MTI in SNNU.The Government Work Report excerts great influence in the two sessions annually and it also receives widespread attention both at home and abroad.Various aspects of social life are mentioned in the Government Work Report, including politics, economy, culture, diplomacy, military, medical treatment and people's livelyhood. The Government Work Report is also a significant window for the international community to know about China's development. Therefore, the translation work of the Government Work Report plays a very crucial role in national external publicity. There are 19,586 Chinese characters in the text of the Government Work Report(2016)presented by Premire Li.And the original audio of the Government Work Report(2016)is about 113 minutes long.Sufficient facts and accurate datas are given to support the views in each part or paragraph of the Government Work Report(2016).This Chinese-English simulated consecutive interpretation lasts for 4 hours and 38 minutes in total.By analysing the simulated audio and transcript of this simulated interpretation task, the author concludes four tipical problems occured in the process of this practice, including the translation of the Chinese characteristics words, long and paratactic sentences without subject, fuzzy logic sentences.Guided by the Functional Equivalence Theory of Nida, the author analyses and explores these four tipical problems and comes up with the relevant translation solutions and strategies to those problems. This simulated interpretation practice helps the author have a full understanding of the translation theories, meanwhile,it also improves the author's interpretation ability, which becomes a solid foundation to the future interpretation practice and study. This report consists of five chapters.Chapter One briefly introduces the process of the interpretation task, including the task background, task object and characteristic.Chapter Two elaborates the process of this interpretation practice, including pre-interpreting preparation, interpreting process,after-interpreting items. In Chapter Three, the author demonstrates the Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory and its guiding meanings for interpretation.Chapter Four presents the tipical problems the author countered during the process of this simulated interpretation practice. The author gives examples to show how to combine the Functional Equivalence Theory with this interpretation practice as well as how to take effective translation strategies and methods to solve those problems.Chapter Five makes a full conclusion of this practice report, including translation experience and courses drawn from this practice, and the enlightenments to the future translation study and practice.
