The text of this translation practice report is selected from Even the Dogs, written by Jon McGrego,a British novelist and short story writer. The author focuses on a group of drug addicts and homeless people who live in the bottom of the community and devotes his passion and enthusiasm on them.Robert,as the main character of the novel,is an alcoholic at the bottom of the society, lives with some addicts and homeless people in his apartment and finally dies at Christmas. The novel describes the transport of Robert's body after his death, the court's decision on the results of the autopsy, and some of the stream of consciousness and experiences of the drug abusers who had lived in the deceased's apartment. The subject of this translation practice report is the first chapter and some parts of the second chapter.Under the guidance of the theory of translator's subjectivity, the original text is featured a complicated narrative perspective, which increases the difficulty of translation. The difficulty in translation of the practical report also lies in the frequent conversion of the narrative perspective, the complex relationship between characters and the various sentence structures. In this report, the translation difficulties were analyzed, and a variety of translation methods and techniques, such as literal translation and free translation, split and combination, addition and omission, were adopted with specific translation examples, aiming to explore the translation methods and strategies of the stream-of-consciousness novels. The translation methods and strategies adopted in this report ensure that the translated text is fluent in nature and conforms to the narrative style of the original text.Through this translation practice, the writer has a more profound understanding of the theory of translator's subjectivity---It can be found that translator's subjectivity plays an important role in the quality of the translated text.In the process of literary translation,a translator should pay attention to autonomy, and avoid overexertion,so as not to affect the quality of the translated text.
