| The modern society is an information society thus how to obtain information is ofgreat importance.As a carrier for international communication,news in English plays an important part in daily life.iNews China Daily is a website that reports the news in English and the Chinese version.During the period of my practice in iNews China Daily,I translated 42 pieces of news from English into Chinese,which involve politics,economy,science and technology and social life.The report analyzes the methods and strategies in soft news translation by illustrating translation examples chosen from iNews China Daily within the framework of communicative translation.The author introduces the background and the characteristics of translation corpus,and summarizes Newmark's communicative translation theory and previous research results.The body of the thesis focuses on analyzing key and difficult points in translating English soft news from three aspects:the headlines,vocabulary and sentences.The author put forward several views and strategies in soft news translation in the thesis.Through the comparison and analysis,the study has concluded that the communicative translation theory is of great significance to the translation of English soft news headlines,the translation of characteristic words and the translation of special sentence patterns.This study applies the theory of communicative translation to soft news translation analysis and concludes that the process of translating soft news should be centered on the target language readers in order to make the original information clear and easy-understood.It is of great significance in both theoretical and practical level.It is hoped that this study could help translators with translating English soft news. |
