A Report On The Translation Of Philosophy:A Very Short Introduction(English-Chinese Translation)

The report is on an English-Chinese translation endeavour.The original text can be found in chapters 1 and 2 from Edward Craig' s Philosophy:A Very Short Introduction.The former gives the reader a brief introduction for the whole book.The latter is based on Plato's crito,which discusses the first basic problem of philosophy.It's well known that Philosophical writings tend to be obscure and abstract in meaning.Despite lacking of experience,the author has the interest and bravery to choose this Very Short Introductions series of books form Oxford press as the translation text.The report uses the "text function and classify method " from Peter Newmark as a theoretical framework.Based on the material's background and the reason to choose the material and translation theory,the report introduces the preparation work and process of the whole report,and further focuses on problems while translating,and tries to analysis the important words and sentences according to the different characters between English and Chinese with samples in the meantime.Lastly,the report summarizes the whole report in order to give some suggestions for future translation practice.
