Yan Shigu's Hanshuzhu(????????)is a collection of annotations to the History of Han Dynasty, bringing together twenty-three authors' annotations since the Han dynasty, correcting many deficiencies which have been fo und very high academic value in writing, phonology, exegesis and other disciplines.Yan's Hanshuzhu was regarded to represent the highest level in all the annotations to Hanshu. This paper chooses the edition of Zhonghua Book Company as the research base, which is the representative of all the editions of Hanshuzhu. With the reference of Zhonghua Recycling Edition, the database of Hanshuzhu is established on the basis of meticulous collation. In the course of the research,we analyzed the characteristics of the notes of Hanshuzhu by various methods such as the method of the comparison between Fanqie with a frame of reference(?????),the textual research and the examination of the words in Fanqie(???????),etc. It can objectively be drawn some actual situations of the phonology in the early Tang Dynasty and provide a reference for the study of frequent pronunciations of some polyphones in the history of Chinese phonology. This article is divided into four chapters:The first chapter is a brief introduction of the author's life, works, the linguistic ideology and the research status of the Hanshuzhu. Then it explains the edtions and collations of the Hanshuzhu.Secondly, this paper introduces the research methods used.At last,it sorts the patterns, the contents and the rules of phonetic annotations in the Hanshuzhu. The second chapter mainly discusses the notes of Hanshuzhu. It can be mainly divided into initial consonant system and vowel system. In terms of initial consonants,it has the characteristics of light and heavy lips differentiation, dentals became apical and blade-alveolar roughly,Chuan(?)and Shan(?),Cong(?)and Xie(?),Ying(?)Xiao(?)Xia(?)and Yun(?)differentiation accordingly, and so on.In vowels,it analyzed the discrete or incorporative phenomena in each She(?).In the Tong She(??),The first grade of Dong(?)and Dong(?)are discreted,The third grade of Dong(?)and Zhong(?)are discreted. In the Zhi She(??),Zhi(?)?Zhi(?)and Zhi(?)as well as Wei(?)are all discreted. In the Yu She(??),Yu(?)and Yu(?)are discreted. In the Xie She(??),The first grade of hui(?),Hai(?)and Tai(?)are all discreted,The second grade of Jia(?)and Jie(?)are discreted,Guai(?)and Guai(?)are incorporated, third grade of Ji(?)and Fei(?)are discreted. In the Zhen She(??),Zhen(?)and Zhen(?)are all incorporated,n(?)alone as a rhyme,Zhun(?)alone as a rhyme too.In the Shan She(??),second grade of Shan(?)and Shan(?)are incorporated, third grade of Yuan(?)and Xian(?)are discreted. In the Guo She(??),Ge(?)and Ge(?)are incorporated. In the Geng She(??),The second grade of Geng(?)and Geng(?)are incorporated,The third grade of Geng(?)and Qing(?)are discreted. In the Liu She(??),You(?)and You(?)are discreted. In the Xian She(??),The first grade of Tan(?)and Tan(?)are discreted,The second grade of Xian(?)and Xian(?)are discreted,The third grade of Yan(?)and Fan(?)are incorporated,Yan-Yan(??)and Fan(?)are discreted. The third chapter is the study of frequent pronunciations(???)of some polyphones in Hanshuzhu. In the process of comparing the phonetic annotationsl in Hanshuzhu with Guangyun(????),we find that many Faqie(??)words have two or more pronunciations. Then examine the pronunciations of these Fanqie(??)words which have lots of pronunciations.Mainly divided into two parts, the first part is to explain the circumstances under which frequent pronunciations can be tested and examine the various methods used. The second part is to explain under what circumstances frequent pronunciations can not be tested, and be recorded. The fourth chapter is a conclusion part.It gives a brief summary for this article, and also explain the innovation points and inadequacies.Innovative points mainly in the material handling, research methods,as well as content than some previous studies are different.Inadequacies are mainly manifested in the study of various aspects is not deep enough, and proofreading version is not comprehensive enough.
