Staff rules are mainly about the rules and regulations,the language used by which is strict and inflexible to some extent.Staff rules have distinctive text features,the function of which is to ensure accurate transmission of information to staffs.Based on the case study of the translation of the Staff Rules of the SEWS-STC Co.,Ltd from Chinese to English,this thesis intends to analyze the translation strategies of staff rules from the perspective of Reiss’ s text typology theory.The thesis starts from the case description and then summarizes the text features and determines that staff rules mainly belong to informative text.Also,the general translation principles guided by text typology and translation theory will be mentioned in the second part.The translation of staff rules from Chinese to English should take account of the cultural background of English readers and the target language in order to ensure concision,accuracy and readability.Then,from the perspective of text types,this paper discusses the specific strategies for translating staff rules in terms of lexicon,syntax and texture.Through the analysis of the case study,it is hoped that the thesis could provide reference for other translators and help improve the language quality of English staff rules for enterprises in China.
