With the further development of globalization,Chinese readers not only show a strong desire to understand the domestic political and economic conditions, but also pay more attention to the development of other major powers in the world. Therefore, translating texts on politics and economy has certain value.Translators convey information for readers and bear great responsibility for quality of the translation. The book in title When China Rules the World is mainly about the development of major powers in the world, especially China's politics, economy and other aspects. Its chapters are chosen to be translated as the translation project, then the case studies are conducted accordingly aiming to discuss the E-C translation skills of texts related to economy and politics.Vermeer's Skopos theory believes that purpose determines the skill of translation. With difficulties at the lexical and syntactic levels encountered in translation practice, the translator adopts corresponding translation skills such as addition and omission under the guidance of three rules of Skopos theory, namely, skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule, hoping to present a target text that conforms to the reading habits of Chinese readers and meets their reading demands.Through this translation practice, the translator not only finds the inadequacy of the skills to use language and the ability to structure sentences with appropriate words, but also deeply realizes that the three rules of Skopos theory are instructional to the translation of texts related to politics and economy.
