All the cultures in the world were, are and will be globally shared and interacted,so translation for science and technology(EST),has experienced a long history.Since stura translation in Tang dynasty,China has been officially introducing lots of western sci-techs through translation to benefit its own development. In order to help domestic recipients better understand the EST translation,Chinese scholars have been exploring EST translating theories and strategies for decades. The 21st century is an age of information, witnessing great breakthroughs in science and technologies, and English is the most widely used language in the world, thus EST translation is more important both in quantity and quality. In this case,it's quite urgent and necessary to develop a set of scientific translation strategies to guide EST translation effectively and accurately. This thesis tries to employ the principles of skopos, coherence and fidelity in Skopos Theory to analyze the translation of National Geographic Answer Book(Excerpt). With the guidance of the three principles, the study intends to be conducted from three aspects related to original text including the characteristics of linguistics, grammar and style.Hopefully,it may discover some scientific translating strategies and provide some effective guidance for the later translators engaging in the EST translation.
