A Report On The Translation Of Humanity's Global Era

This is a translation report based on a real translation practice.This translation practice is a program sponsored by Tianjin H.P.Trans Service CO.,LTD and School of Foreign Languages at Hebei University of Technology.This translation program was carried out from October 2015 and submitted in January 2016.The original book is Humanity's Global Era——A Dual Paradigm Change,written by Professor Shlomo Yishai in Hebrew and translated by Rachel Madar in English.The book has not had a Chinese version yet.This translation project will bring Chinese version of this book into Chinese book market,so that more Chinese readers could get access to enjoy it.Humanity's Global Era is based on the background of Global Era.It mainly expresses that since we are in the edge of a change from the old time to the new era,the society is undergoing earth-shaking changes.The economy is running on a global level;professional knowledge are freely available;and communication media is also changing with the fast development of the internet.The author introduces the moral,educational,and leadership challenges that stem from the new reality and offers specific methods to deal with them.During the translation work,the translator has encountered many problems.This translation report analyzes and summaries the problems in terms of lexical level,syntactical level and textual level.In terms of the lexical level,the translator mainly discusses the translation of people's names and geographical names,acronyms,culture-loaded and context-loaded words,etc.On the syntactic level,the translator mainly discusses the translation of attributive clauses,passive voice sentences and long,difficult sentences.On the textual level,the translator mainly discusses the textual cohesion methods,including conjunction cohesion,substitution cohesion,etc.At last,the translator reviews the whole translation process and summarizes the translation methods with the focuses on transliteration,literal translation,condensed translation and amplification translation,etc.Besides,the translator also reflects over the limitations in the translation process and puts forward some suggestions for future translation work.
