A Project Report On The Translation Of The Articles On The Introduction To Chongqing Local Place Names Published In The World & Chongqing

As the implementation of The Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road announced by Xi Jinping,President of China,Chongqing,a metropolis in the economic belt of silk road should positively response this fundamental policy and introduce its culture to abroad.An only large monthly magazine concerning foreign affairs or foreign nationals,the World and Chongqing shows Chongqing's policy,economy and culture by abundant pictures and texts from multiple perspectives.Merged with authoritativeness,readability and practicality,this magazine honors a bridge and bond to connect Chongqing and the abroad.The original in this report are mainly themed with the introduction of characteristic place names in Chongqing.In those five selected articles,the main content is to introduce related Chongqing cultural stories by some famous place names,which is of great significance to understand the local culture of Chongqing.On the basis of brief introduction of translation projects and the background of the original,this report made a depth analysis of texts and indicated that these five articles have refined language style,a large number of four character words and cultural words with local characteristics.In addition,there are many long difficult sentences and parallel sentences which can be seen from the perspective of structure.During the process of Chinese-English translation,translator alternatively uses text category theory proposed by Newmark,semantic translation theory,communicative translation strategy to solve difficulties in articles.There are four parts in this translation report.First part aims to introduce some related background of this translation project and the second part introduces analysis of the original and preparation before translation.Third part presents difficulties and relevant theories in translation while the fourth part makes a introduction of specific difficulties in original and related translation strategies and methods of solving difficulties.And the last part,it is the summary of translation,and indicates the translation problems to be solved.
