Schumann is one of the representatives of the romantic music in the first half of the 19 th century. He is not only a composer, pianist, and conductor, but also a music critic with high literacy accomplishment. In the field of piano music, the piano divertimento composed of characteristic musical compositions is the most representative creation form of him.Kinderszenen is one of the most famous piano divertimentos of Schumann. The title and the literariness are the most important features of this works.Kinderszenen includes 13 musical compositions with different characters, revealing different scenes of the children's lives.Only from the perspective of its title, this divertimento is an expression of the composer's memories of his childhood, where the composer expresses his yearning for the better life in the future. The first chapter mainly introduces Schumann's lifetime as well as his music thought;the second chapter analyzes the structure characteristic of kinderszenen in string band version from the two aspects: melody and accompaniment texture. In addition,it makes a simple comparison between the string band version and the piano version;on the basis of this comparison, the third chapter mainly discusses the performance of the piano divertimento---kinderszenen.Through the comparative analysis with the band version,we find that various kinds of musical instruments adopt different performance techniques to give out different sound effects in different gamut and voice registers, which can give us the enlightenment in the musical imagination and the musical expression when playing kinderszenen with piano so as to enable us to have a new understanding to the original piano music, which owns an important enlightenment significance for our piano playing.
