This is a report on the interpreting of a video about diabetes.In recent years,diabetes has become the third leading cause of death in the world after heart disease and cancer.China has surpassed India and become the country that has the most diabetics in the world.Diabetes is called “the silent killer” and has aroused more and more people's concern.From the perspective of the Interpretive Theory,this interpretation report tries to restore the interpreting reality of this video in a simulating situation.This paper is divided into four chapters.Chapter One is the description of the simulating interpretation task,which includes the source and introduction of the video,the characteristics of this interpretation task and the aim and significance of this task.Chapter Two describes the pre-interpretation preparation,which includes the theoretical preparation and practice preparation.In this part,the author introduces the Interpretive Theory and the preparation before interpretation,such as information collection,the simulating practice,etc.In Chapter Three the author finds out three practical problems to deal with which can be concluded as: problems in time limits;problems in mishear;problems in medical vocabulary.The author also puts forward the interpreting strategies coping with these three practical problems.Under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory and considering about the characteristics of medical interpretation,four strategies are proposed: omission,addition,annotation,logical readjustment.In this chapter the author analyzes the aforesaid problems with the examples used in this interpretation project and summarizes the interpretation skills combining with them.Chapter Four is the conclusion part,and it introduces the shortcomings of this report.
