This thesis takes Kinematic simulation of high-performance grinding for analysis of chip parameters of single grains and Correlation of grinding wheel topography and grinding performance: A study from a viewpoint of three-dimensional surface characterization of CIRP Journal of Manufacturing Science and Technology of Elsevier press for the translation materials. These two materials, the related grinding research paper, have certain academic significance to the Mechanical Engineering. There are 292 passive sentences in these two grinding research papers, which account for a proportion of 60% in the full text of the 482 sentences. That is the feature and difficult point of this thesis. This thesis analyzes the classifications and the E-C translation methods of passive sentences.According to the passive sentences of the two papers and linguistic classification, they can be respectively divided into three types, passive sentence without agents, passive sentence with agents and formal subject passive sentences. This thesis focuses on the translation of the first two types of passive sentences. Therefore, these sentences have four translation methods: translating into passive sentence, translating into active sentence, translating into judgment sentence and translating into no-subject sentence. This thesis designed to express the original meaning of the English passive sentence,to show the seriousness and objectivity of the science and technology text,to help the original authors show their research results and to assist the readers of the thesis to obtain relevant knowledge and information.
