Industrial products are commonly and extensively used in both people's daily life and production at current time.The industrial product manuals belong to a style of scientific and technological material.There are also some unique characteristics of its own besides the common features.Many scholars both at home and aboard have practiced a lot in translation and made a lot of researches on this kind of text guided by different translation theories and methods.This thesis will focus on diversified industrial product manuals.The selected texts include small-size daily-used appliances such as shaver manuals and large household industrial equipment like electric water heater installation and operation instructions.The thesis will discuss and analyze the classification,language feature,function of industrial product manuals from the perspective of the Skopos Theory,including the three rules,namely,the skopos rule,coherence rule,fidelity rule.In addition,the thesis will explore and summarize the translation of the industrial product manuals by introducing and using some translation methods such as literal translation,free translation,the combination of literal and free translation.Two methods of amplification and omission that express free translation.It is hoped that the study can provide some valuable references to the translators who are working on the translation of the industrial product manuals,and it is also hoped that the research fruits can bring convenience and help to the people.It is expected that the research can provide some results on the industrial product manuals and put the achievement into the international trade so as to offer help in people's daily production and life.
