With China's increasing awareness on the agro-environmental protection,the comprehensive utilization of crop straws is developing rapidly.Domestic crushing equipment manufacturers pursue to cooperate with foreign companies which,in turn,are also eager to get informed about the situation of straw crushing market in China.Therefore,the author was entrusted by a mechanical and electrical equipment company in Chengdu to translate A Survey on Straw Crushing Equipment in China.The source text introduces the existing technology and equipment of straw crushing in China with many translation difficulties,such as technical terms,complex sentences,diagrams and figures.The features of the source text reflect the scientificity of a technical text and the readability and preciseness of a survey.The translation project is guided by the schema theory,specifically by the cultural,content and formal schemata.The report analyzes and summarizes translation methods adopted based on the schema theory,such as recasting,enumeration,omission and division in the translation of the source text.Through case analysis and theoretical study,the author hopes to enhance the mastery of rendering such technical surveys and expects that this report can offer help to other translators.This report is divided into five parts: the first chapter introduces project background,objectives and significance as well as the structure of the report;the second chapter elaborates on the preparatory work for the task�parallel text reading,glossary building and analysis of the source text;the third chapter discusses schema theory on its development,classification and application in the technical translation;the fourth chapter gives details on translation difficulties and case analysis and illustrates methods used in the translation;the last chapter summarizes the major findings,experience and enlightenment and points out problems to be solved in the translation.
