This translation task has be written on the basis of the translation process of 2016 International “Gold Panda” Documentary Festival— “China Stories For The World” Market Conference Guide.This guide is divided into three parts,i.e.pitch conference,program selection conference and market release,aiming to build a platform for market and talent cultivation,integration of cross-media resources,and communication among domestic and international documentary producers.The author is honored to be involved in the translation of this guide,which is about 10,000 words.In the process of translation,the author takes intercultural communication as the starting point and the Functional Translation Theories and Skopos Theory as the guiding principle all the time.On the basis of making foreign readers understand the contents,the author adopts the method of foreignization as the main translation method,and keeps the Chinese cultural connotation as far as possible in order to spread the Chinese traditional culture to the maximum extent.In this paper,the author selects some cases to analyze the solutions about how to deal with the translation of Chinese culture-loaded words and documentary titles and summarizes the problems and experience in translation.This thesis consists of five parts: the first chapter is the introduction of the translation project,which mainly introduces the background,purpose and significance of the translation project;the second chapter deals with the process of translation,including the analysis of the source text and the target readers,the preparation of translation,the completion of the translation task,and the proofreading and correction after translation;the third chapter is the theoretical support for the translation,including the Skopos Theory and its three main principles;the forth chapter is about case study,mainly aiming at the translation of culture-loaded words and documentary titles,as well as the different translation strategies and methods;the fifth chapter concludes with the summary and reflection in the translation process.Through this translation task,the author has a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and folk customs and translation practice under the guidance of translation theories.The author hopes that this translation report can provide some references for Chinese-English translation of relevant texts such as documentaries or other media.
