Marxist Theory Of Urban Development And Its Contemporary Value

The city is the product of the development of productive forces in a certain stage, is a region's centre of politics, economy, education, science and technology, culture, information and management. With the development of economy, the appearance of cities is constantly changing. The city is the crystallization of the collective human labor's wisdom. The city is the carrier of human life and human civilization, it carries the memory of human history, is the witness of history traces, and its development is closely related to people's lives, the healthy development of the city is one of the goals of the Marxism political party unremitting efforts. With the deepening of economic structure reformation, and the accelerating of urbanization process, the guidance of scientific theory is needed urgently. In order to adapt to the current development of urbanization, there is an urgent need to study Marxism theories of urban development, which undoubtedly provides theoretical reference for development and progress of China's urbanization. This paper is based on the current situation of our country, it investigates the change of the development of cities in China based on the Marxist theory of urban development, trying to find an urbanization path which is suitable for Chinese national conditions, that is the urbanization path with Chinese characteristics. This paper is divided into six parts:the first part is the introduction, concisely pointed out the background and research meaning of the paper, and it gives a brief analysis and summary about the current situation of the development theory of the city both at home and abroad. At the same time, it points out the innovations and the place which needs to be improved. The second part is also the first chapter of the paper, which discusses the urban development theory of Marx and Engels, mainly analyses and discusses from these four aspects, that is, how the city come into being, the effect of the city, the relationship between the city and the countryside and the problem of the residence. In order to provides a theoretical guidance for the development of Chinese cities. The third part is also the second chapter of the paper, which discusses the urban development theory of Lenin and Stalin, mainly analyzes and discusses from the theory of urban centre, the dynamic of urbanization and the approach of urban-rural integration. Lenin and Stalin develops the urban development theory of Marxism in the practice of construction of the city, and it also provides a theory guidance for the construction of Chinese city. The fourth part is also the third chapter of the paper, which discusses the urban development theory of Chinese Marxists which is represented for Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao and Xi Jinping.They base on the urban development theory of Marxism, combines Chinese national conditions and current conditions of urbanization, explore for the development of Chinese urbanization, have gradually formed urban development theory with Chinese characteristic, which have further enriched and developed the urban development theory of Marxism. The fifth part is also the fourth chapter of the paper, it discusses the contemporary value of the urban development theory of Marxsim, and bases on profound discussion and research of the contents of Marxist urban development theory,it excavates the great meaning of the theory in the progress of urban-rural integration and in the construction of Chinese harmonious society, which provides scientific guidance and theoretical support for the construction of Chinese sicialism. The sixth part is the conclusion, it briefly summarizes that the Marxist urban development theory must be placed into the Marxist theory system to understand and grasp. In the primary stage of socialism, so long as we adhere to Marxist theory of urban development, set out from Chinese actual conditions, follow the objective laws of urban development, make scientific decisions and do practical work, we will be able to promote the healthy development of Chinese cities.
