Fragmented Rights:Protecting Migrant Workers Action Strategies

Along with the acceleration of urbanization, the urban-rural dual structure has been gradually broken. Farmers engaging in workers have made immense contributions to the urban construction as well as the development of social economy in the process of urbanization. However, the migrant workers in our country are still in an unfavorable position in the current society, in which they are deprived of effective guarantee on rights and interests in various aspects. The living conditions of migrant workers are of great concern. Up to now, migrant workers still suffer from the deprivation of rights and interests. Though our country has issued a series of policies to protect the rights of migrant workers, and the attention from all walks of life has been paid to their rights, safeguarding their rights are confronted with troubles from both the system and the practice. Therefore, in our current society, the study of migrant workers' rights and interests is quite indispensable.Based on the analysis of previous researches on the protection of rights and interests of migrant workers, this thesis, taking the migrant workers' fragmented safeguarding of rights and interests in Shandong Province as the starting point, introduces the deprivation and damaged conditions of migrant workers' rights and interests, analyzes the reasons for the their choice of “fragmented” move as well as its main forms and features. This thesis employs methods of literature review, questionnaire survey, comparative research, etc., to make an in-depth analysis of migrant workers' rights protection strategy options, which mainly focuses on the analysis of the current situation of migrant workers' rights and interests, as well as the factors that contributes to its inefficacy. This thesis proposes how to guide migrant workers to set up the correct strategies and measures, and how to take lawful and reasonable moves, in order to effectively maintain the lawful rights and interests of migrant workers. This thesis is expected to provide reference for the vulnerable to take lawful and effective collective actions to fight for their rights and interests.
