With the deepening of China’s aging population, the number of Elderly People Living Alone is increasing, and its spiritual comfort demand is increasingly becoming a concern of the whole society. This paper based on the basic thesis of people is the product of social relations, the spiritual needs of people is the demand of social contacts in nature, starting from the point of view of social relations improvement and reconstruction about the Elderly People Living Alone, by conducting a specific social work practice, explore the methods and approaches of the spiritual comfort demand of Elderly People Living Alone.This article first sorts out the basic characteristics of the social life of the elderly, analyzes the influence on the elderly life of lacking of social relations or social interaction in detail, which found that the construction of social relations and social interaction is the key to solving the problem of spiritual consolation demand of Elderly People Living Alone. On this basis.the selection of two old man lived alone of the Gulou District of Nanjing city as a social work case, from life, living conditions such as physical condition, economic condition.life events, and the negative concept of individuals, etc.especially the perspective on the changes in social relations, to analysis the reasons of the lacking of social relations and reduction in social interaction of elderly living alone, using the case work methods of social work, to help the elderly who live alone to rebuild the part of the social relations, to increase the frequency of social interactions, and has carried on the summary of practices and further reflection from a professional point of view, to explore the basic strategy of construct social support network.Considering the social work practice, the writer further analyzed the advantages and difficulties of social work going into mental support demands of Elderly People Living Alone. In personal, family, original and social level, the writer suggested we should rebuild and complete the social network of their mental support demands. According to the passage, to solve the problem, social workers need to fully play the role of treatments, supporters, coordinators, mobilization of resources, advocators of social policy, etc. A sound and comprehensive social network of mental support demands for Elderly People Living Alone will be built by helping them go through barriers in social communications, coordinating the relationship with their families, integrating resources of communities and organizations serving for the old, and by advocating and calling on the society to join in.
