A Study On The Literacy Education Of Shanghai Workers In The Early Days Of New China(1950-1956)

In the early years of New China,the recovery of national economy and the consolidation of the new-born political power were the key tasks of Chinese Communist Party.In order to complete these key tasks,Chinese Communist Party as a political party for the working class,it certainly had to rely on the working class.However,the working class had low degree of education,and retained more non-Marxism thought,so the working class's conditions did not meet the requirements of Chinese Communist Party's key tasks.Because illiteracy-elimination education had two attributes:cultural enlightenment and political enlightenment,it became the best choice to improve workers' degree of education and release them from the constraint of old ideology.In the early years of New China,the illiteracy-elimination education for Shanghai workers was divided into three parts:start,rectifying deviations,and accelerated development.Shanghai City guaranteed the effective running of illiteracy-elimination education for workers through setting up leading organ,carrying out publicity and mobilization,compiling textbooks for illiteracy-elimination education and innovating teaching methods.Illiteracy-elimination education was carried out under the background of the early years of New China,because its guiding ideology has strong factor of theory of class,the trend of pan-politics and revolutionization appeared in illiteracy-elimination education.In the specific practicing process,illiteracy-elimination education deviated from normal development speed,and had the feature of speed-up.The practice of illiteracy-elimination education for workers promoted the new-born political power 's reshape on the working class.Illiterate workers and semiliterate workers not only mastered basic everyday language,but also acquired a set of political language.In addition,illiteracy-elimination education also pushed illiterate workers and semiliterate workers' transformation of leisure and recreation mode,and generated their Marxism belief and enhanced their political participation passion.
