Study On Construction Of East Asian Community Of Common Destiny From The Perspective Of Constructivism

In a sense,the community almost came into being and has developed at the same time with human society.It is an organizational form of coexistence between people of different countries.It is with very rich connotations and multiple significances.The community has multiple existence forms,including economic community,security community,interest community and cultural community.This paper studies the community of common destiny among countries.Because construction of the community of common destiny is closely related to the interests of East Asian countries,it has already received positive responses from East Asian countries including China since it was put forward.Various countries have great enthusiasm and contribute a lot for construction of East Asian community of common destiny.In face of various problems in construction of East Asian community of common destiny,constructivism suggests that its explanation different from the traditional theories.Wendt's constructivism is both the international political theory and the way of studying international relations.Application of Wendt's social constructivism to study on East Asia community of common destiny is just utilizing the framework of international political theories of constructivism(core concepts of national identity and national interests theory,international architecture theories and the international system transformation theories)to interpret East Asia community of common destiny.Therefore,it is significant to correctly understand constructivism and analyze based on related theories for construction of East Asian community of common destiny.This paper includes the following parts:The introduction firstly introduces the topic basis and research significance of this paper,and then introduces the current research status of constructivism theories and contents related to East Asia community of common destiny.Then it introduces the research ideas and methods of this paper,and finally the innovative points and inadequacies of this paper.The first part is international political theories of constructivism.The main arguments of Wendt's constructivism are that: the social shared ideas construct international system and make it dynamic.Constructivism theories mainly cover three aspects: the first is national structure agents theory,the state is the “unitary actor” in international political system.The state actors are entities with identity and interests,and different identities represent different national interests.National behaviors are driven by identity-based interests.The second is international cultural system theories.Wendt suggests that,it is cultural structure that generates anarchic architecture and logistics.Anarchy mainly has three cultures to be Hobbesian culture,Lockean culture and Kantian culture.The last is the international system evolution theory.Via interaction among countries,the structure of international system is to construct and re-construct and transform frequently.The identity formation and structural change mainly depend on four variables.The second part is the thoughts and ideas of constructing East Asian community of common destiny.There are mainly community ideas in the field of political thoughts.The Chinese leaders expounded and applied the ideas of the community of common destiny since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,East Asian countries conceive the community of common destiny in East Asia,so that the community of common destiny of East Asia is defined finally in combination with constructivism.The definition is that East Asia state actors of different roles and identities continue to internalize the cultural system with the core of friendship and also establish standards via role interaction,and restrict themselves to form East Asian country collection with relatively high homogeneity,depending on each other and common destiny.The third part is opportunities,challenges and feasibility analysis for construction of East Asian community of common destiny.In today's world,it is the age of globalization with inter-depending countries.The international order tends to be multi-polar and the international pattern is under changes and transformation.This is strategic opportunity for constructing East Asian community of common destiny.Besides,the geopolitical games due to contending for regional leadership,unbalanced development of economy and security,territorial disputes and false ideas of East Asian countries all bring several challenges.However,because East Asian countries are geographically linked,develops economy jointly,have institutional arrangement towards public problems and share similarities in cultural spirits,it is feasible to construct East Asian community of common destiny.The fourth part is construction of East Asian community of common destiny—from the perspective of constructivism.It shall understand East Asian countries and regard their state identity and interests from the perspective of constructivism for constructing East Asian community of common destiny.Currently,the international system of East Asia is Lockean culture system and will be Kant culture system in the future.For construction of the community of common destiny,collective identity is decisive for whether East Asian countries will behave in favor of the community of common destiny.So understanding of formation mechanism of collective identity is significant for East Asian countries to re-recognize their state identity and interests and therefore take actions and participate in construction actively.There are mainly four variables in establishing collective identity to be mutual dependence,common destiny,homogeneity,and self-discipline.The last part is summary of this paper.Constructivism is based on identity theory and has natural advantages for researching the formation mechanism of East Asian community of common destiny,participants' behaviors and identity.It provides a whole-new perspective and explorative solutions for analyzing problems in construction.The construction process will not be smooth,and if East Asian countries can consider construction of the community of common destiny starting at long-term interests,it is completely possible to construct the community of common destiny with high mutual trust and able to lead them to prosperity.
