A Case Study:the Cultural Construction Of "Binhu Century Community"

The communal culture is about the unique mode of production and lifestyle,emotional awareness,values,aesthetic methods,customs and so on that were created and nurtured by the people in a particular area in the long process of living practice.The study of Chinese communal culture started from the 80s in the 20th century.The communal culture is not only the cornerstone of Chinese Socialist Construction,but also the cornerstone of construction of Chinese culture.Scholars at home and abroad have got remarkable achievements on the study of the communal culture,the research contents includes the concept of the communal culture,the functions of the communal culture,the specific content and development model of communal culture construction,the problems and countermeasures of communal culture construction.However,the theory and methodology of cultural anthropology have rarely been applied to study the communal culture in china.The thesis chooses "Binhu Century Community" as the field investigation point,applies the approach of the document research,participant observation and other research methods to conduct a continuing in-depth observation and description of the community members' daily life,which could get the real and comprehensive information about communicative interaction,festival customs and other real-life scenarios of community members with different cultural concepts.The thesis tries to apply Malinowski's Cultural Functionalism to analyze the functions and relations of different cultural factors,and explore the means of the Cultural Construction of Binhu Century Community.The thesis is divided into five chapters to study on the Cultural Construction of"Binhu Century Community".Chapter one is the introduction,introduces the value and significance of this study,literature review about the community culture study at home and aboard,research methods and the definition of community culture.Chapter two introduces the general situation of Binhu Century Community from five aspects including geographic location and location characteristics,natural climate,socio-economic situation,administrative system and public service.Chapter three detaily describes the everyday life and cultural activities including neighborhood contacts and traditional festivals in the community.Chapter four is about the culture analysis of Binhu Century Community,mainly studies on comparing the differences between rural culture and urban culture,cultural collision and integration of rural culture and urban culture in Binhu Century Community,and how to construct the community culture applying Malinowski's Cultural Functionalism.Chapter five studies on how to construct the community culture from two aspects,the interference from the government and fostering social organizations.Finally,the thesis draws the conclusion that the establishment of a highly consistent cultural community in a diversified living space requires not only the driving force of the government,but also the role of the community residents.
