Study On Long-term Care Model Of Disabled Elderly Supported By Institutions

The 13 th Five-Year plan has proposed that in face of the population aging,we should actively take actions to support the development of pension services.With the increasing problems of Chinese population aging,the number of disabled elderly is rising rapidly.Compared with the community and the home,nursing institutions have more professional advantages in care services for the disabled elderly,but the elderly always want to be cared in their familiar community or home.Faced with this contradiction,the pension services industry is constantly exploring an effective method,by which the disabled elderly whether in the community or at home can have access to the professional long-term care services from institutions.In recent years,nursing institutions have established three models of institution-supported long-term care for the disabled elderly by constant exploration and practice,which are internal care model,extended community care model and radiation home care model.The nursing institutions take advantage of their professional knowledge and resources to extend their service to community and home,making the disabled elderly can not only be cared in familiar environment,but also get the professional long-term care of nursing institutions,which can meet the needs of the disabled elderly to get the professional long-term care nearby and conveniently.Based on the field survey in Changsha carnation elderly care center,we get a comprehensive understanding of the operation conditions of internal care model,extended community care model and radiation home care model,and deepen the understanding of the long-term care model of the disabledelderly supported by institutions.Then,based on the analysis of the current condition of this model,we deeply analyze the existed problems during its development,the deep causes of the problems,and the source of the obstacle which hinder the healthy development of this model.Finally,this study puts forward some suggestions on how to support the steady development of the long-term care model for the disabled elderly.These suggestions would be helpful to improve the comprehensive ability of the nursing institutions to extend the long-term care service for the elderly to community and home,and strengthen their supporting position in the community and home care services for the disabled elderly.Meanwhile,these suggestions will also promote the integration,mutual assistance and joint development of the pension services between institutions and communities and home.
