With the continuous development of the social economy and acceleration of urbanization in China,urban competition becomes more and more intense and local governments have paid high attention to city brands.For one thing,city brands with high popularity are helpful to attract and gather resources such as talents,finances,information and trades,for another city brands enable residents to have a sense of identity,make them feel pride for their cities,and strengthen the cohesive force.Local governments are the leader,promoter,organizer and coordinator of building city brands,and ways of their behavior will directly influence the city planning and promotion of city brands.In this paper,the object of study is government behavior of building city brands of Quanzhou,Fujian.In history,Quanzhou was "the Grandest Port in the East”.Since the reform and opening-up,the real economy taking the private economy as its main part had developed at high speed,which had supported the GDP of Quanzhou to rank the first in Fujian for 17 consecutive years.This paper mainly introduces that there are many potential city brands in Quanzhou,such as the famous historic and cultural city and special private economic zone,while the development of its city brands falls behind its historic and cultural deposits and current situation of economic development obviously due to lack of government behavior of guidance and integration.However,in which,there are many places need to be optimized and improved existing in government behavior of creating city brands of Quanzhou.By putting forward problems existing in government behavior of building city brands of Quanzhou,aiming at solving such problems,the paper proposes some suggestions on measures of Quanzhou government in building city brands by drawing experiences of advanced cities.Suggestions include: firstly,based on its own advantages,Quanzhou government should scientifically establish brands,put forward specific suggestions,highlight advantages such as historic and cultural advantages and private economy of Quanzhou,insist on scientific orientation and make city brands of Quanzhou bigger and stronger.Secondly,around creating Quanzhou city brands,government should do well in creation,support,publicity and promotion by constructing carrier of city brands and driving the key project of building city brands so as to value up city brands.
