From Europe To Asia:Rebuilding Russia’s Geostrategic Advantage

The main aim of the given research study was to find out how Russia can reestablish its geostrategic advantage from Europe to Asia.The analysis conducted in this paper gave the opportunity to determine the character of the relations with the West and the East,as well as provide a detail analysis of a potential geopolitical shift to Asia.In order to achieve this goal,the second chapter of this work is dedicated towards evaluating the existing relations with Western bloc and the potential difference the parties are sharing.With the help of different statistics,the second chapter presents an analysis of the conditions in which Russia currently is after the implementation of the western sanctions.Chapter 3 of this paper revolves around the idea of Russia’s shift to Asia.After analyzing the existing relations with the countries in the East,the list of possible benefits and challenges was presented in front of the reader.The forth chapter of this paper presents an analysis of what is the difference between the Western and Eastern strategy,how Russia can regain its geostrategic advantage,as well as 3 forecasts with different outcomes for the future of the Russian Federation.Finally,a set of policy recommendations were formed,that would improve Moscow’s position in the world affairs.The current foreign policy has its flaws:its military-based,overly aggressive and anti-western.As a result,Kremlin has found itself in strong political and economic isolation.In order to regain its position in the world,Moscow will have to introduce major changes:the country should implement internal modernizing reforms,dedicate more attention to the Russia’s Far East,pursue a diverse and balanced approach in the world,especially in the East;follow a more positive agenda and show more commitment to the Asian region.Without these features,Russian foreign policy will be hopeless and Moscow will continue to experience economic and political decline.
