At present,China's aging population is increasing, and the elderly will increase dramatically in the future. In response to aging, the State Council has formulated the "13th Five-Year Plan for Healthy Aging" to actively promote the health of the elderly. As China's social pension security system is still being further improved,it needs family support as a useful supplement. Therefore, this article will study the health of the elderly from the perspective of intergenerational support. This paper takes the influence of intergenerational support on the health of the elderly as the research topic.Based on Social Exchange Theory,"Main effect model" and related literature,it proposes the research hypothesis that intergenerational support will affect the health of the elderly. It applies the cross-sectional data in 2014 of Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey. It focuses on describing the state of the health, intergenerational support status, demographic characteristics, socioeconomic status, way of life, physical health and mental health of the elderly.Based on this, the binary logistic regression model is used to validate the research hypothesis and empirically analyzes the differences in the impact of intergenerational support on the health of the elderly from the perspective of gender and age group, urban and rural areas. The main findings are as follows:With regard to economic support, obtaining economic support from children has a significant impact on the self-rated health of female elderly from the perspective of gender. From the point of view of urban and rural areas, the impact of obtaining children's financial support on the self-evaluation of the health of rural elderly is obvious.Giving financial support to children has a significant impact on the self-assessment of the elderly, with little difference in gender and age groups.Regarding the support of life care, from the perspective of gender, asking children or grandchildren for help when elderly men had difficulties has a positive effect on theself-evaluation of health. From a gender perspective, the influence of doing housework on the self-assessment of the health of older people is significant, and it has a greater impact on the health of older women. From the age group, providing housework help to children has a positive influence on the self-rated of the health of the elderly and has a greater impact on the health of the elderly in the middle-aged and young age groups.Providing domestic help benefits the health of the elderly in rural areas. In terms of emotional support, from a gender perspective, chatting or talking with children or grandchildren has a significant effect on the self-assessment of the health of old women. From the age group, chatting with children or grandchildren has a positive effect on the self-rating health of the advanced age.Sharing ideas with children or grandchildren is beneficial for the self-evaluation of the health of the middle-aged and young people.Judging from the urban and rural areas, talking about their thoughts with children or grandchildren has a significant impact on the self-assessment health of the rural elderly.Based on the above research conclusions, this paper proposes that we should increase the comprehensive protection of elderly women in rural areas, strengthen the community's ability to care for the elderly, pay attention to the psychological comfort of elderly women, and expand the social network of rural elderly people to improve the health status of the elderly.
