Massive Open Online Courses,also known as MOOC,contributed to a tsunami of online learning in higher education around the world in 2008,after which Tsinghua University,Peking University and other Chinese universities cooperated with famous MOOC website,such as edX and Coursera,to share high-quality learning resources in 2013.Embracing the high-quality online learning resources,lots of college students choose to attend MOOC instead of traditional classes which forces college teachers to reflect on this unexpected phenomenon and their own traditional classes.Prof.Armando Fox,the head of MOOC office in UC Berkeley,first implemented SPOC(Small Private Online Course)to reform teaching and learning using flipped classroom and MOOC resources,achieving good results.Associate professor Xinjie Yu of Tsinghua University also implemented Small Private Online Course in his class.The result shows student's enthusiasm and operation skills obviously increase,scores higher than the traditional class.As one of the first class University in China,Nanjing University always making efforts innovating talent development model and improving the quality of college education.Based of successful reform cases,the headmaster of N University decided implement SPOC teaching reform experiment in institute of electronic science and engineering in the spring of 2014.Based on the first SPOC teaching experiment of N University,This study chooses 37 freshman as the research object,through structural questionnaires,interviews and data from MOOC platform to survey students' learning experience and learning effect in flipped classroom,in order to accumulate experience for further implementation.The results showed that in terms of learning experience,overall learning experience of the students in flipped class is better than the traditional class's,and those in flipped class well prepared to flip the classroom teaching and learning,and their objectives have become more clearer,more engagement.What's more,the students in flipped class view that the learning environment is more freedom and opening,learning evaluation tends to pluralism and procedural.Process data and the interview showed that the students met some problems such as learning adaptability problem,knowledge fragmentation problem,polarization and so on,at the same time,students'comprehensive ability are also improved.From the point of learning effect,their learning strategy has changed,most students have deep motivation and deep strategy.Compared with traditional class,the average scores of teamwork ability,planning ability,analytical ability,foreign language reading ability,time management skills and problem-solving ability were higher than the traditional class,and the difference between significant.This study found that physical level of students,factors,learning experience and learning way impact the final results and the learning experience is the largest.The SPOC teaching reform has obtained the good effect and provided significant reference and experience for further implementation.At the same time,there are some invisible problems,such as design of science background classroom activity,personalized knowledge construction,learning cost and other issues need to be further research.
