With unemployment having become the most serious social problem, employment in China is to be confronted with prolonged pressure. In the process of higher education keeping up with the market economy, obtaining employment for college graduates has become an issue of common concern, receiving more and more attention from both the higher institutions and the governments. Owing to various factors, a number of phenomena have arised from graduate employment, which may deserve our consideration. Although there are fewer college graduates than ever before, still many can not find a job; for many of them, "finding a job" goes first while "choosing a job" comes later; they would rather give up their interest and aspiration, and take a well-paid job rather than one that might enable them to fluid themselves and bring their talent to full play; a great majority of the graduates are not satisfied with their present work; in addition, they would rather settle for a commonplace occupation than strive for an undertaking of their own by exerting all of their intelligence and wits. Employment as is mentioned above is unsuccessful.Successful employment for college graduates is a new notion which emphasizes the graduates' ultimate pursuit and aspiration for a good job; it is an inspiring encouragement for the graduates which serves as a prerequisite for self-realization; it is a favorable state of employment form which one can feel the happiness and content of self-actualization; it is a way of living, and a pursuit of life as well as merely a living skill; it is the standard and reference frame that is applied to evaluate one's employment. The striking characteristics of successful employment include subjective initiative, unfinished and self- actualized. It is an analysis of the three main factors affecting successful employment for college graduates, The first factor is the dissimilation of career guidance career guidance is becoming narrower; more emphasis has been put on the result in stead of on the process; career guidance is becoming narrower; more emphasis has been put on the result in stead of on the process; career guidance tends to be more and more utilitarian, random, detained and less productive. The second factor lies in the fact that the graduates are lacking in self-management of their career, as a result, they seem always in a dilemma in choosing their jobs. The third factor has to do with the irrationalstructure of higher education; both the talent-training structure and the discipline-distribution structure are less than rational, therefore, the higher institution are structurul unbalanced.I propose several countermeasures and solutions for college graduates' successful employment. Firstly, one should get a correct comprehension about career guidance career guidance as an objective is the pursuit of happiness; as a process, it is the combination of both long-run and short-run programs; as a curriculum, it is "the three unities"; as a major, it goes from administration to speciality, and as a kind of development, from "adjusting to a job" to "starting an undertaking". Secondly, college graduates should strengthen their individual career management, which includes the planning and study of it. Thirdly, we should make certain, adjustment to the structure of higher education. Its variety and vertical structure should be adjusted to create several first-rate colleges and universities; the speciality structure should be optimized to promote the synthesization of various disciplines; what's move, the function structure of higher institutions should be rationalized to achieve a harmonious relationship of teaching, scientific research & social service, and to promote the internationalization and individualization of both the schools and the talents.
