History textbook is not only an important part of teaching, but also to implement the most important carrier of curriculum objectives. In recent years, along with junior high school history textbooks upgrading, illustrations in the textbook also show new features, its functions has been emphasized by the majority of teachers, which together constitute a textbook and writing important learning resources. This article aims to study the development of illustration under curriculum reform in junior high school history textbook, and provide strategy and suggestions on how to use them in real teaching.The paper is based on "The new junior high school history curriculum standards (2011 Revision)" as the reference standard in the relevant pedagogy, psychology and research results, combined with author's many years of teaching experience, to conduct a series of research on junior high school history textbook illustrations, and to reveal it based on the new curriculum standards as reflected in the new characteristics; by using observation, surveys and interviews, to analyze the latest version of the textbook's illustration; propose appropriate strategies and rationalization proposals of using illustrations in actual teaching; and finally, from the perspective of utilizing a textbook illustration, in order to optimize the teaching design, improve teaching effectiveness, to provide a junior high school history teaching more operability and practicability. This article includes the following four parts:review of junior high school history textbook illustrations; development and changes of junior high school history textbook illustrations; discussion on utilizing the illustration in new curriculum; reflection on junior high school history textbooks illustration.
