With the development of new curriculum innovation and the implement of quality-oriented education, the subjectivity of students has been taken seriously. In specific classroom teaching, as one of the important reflection of students' subjectivity, students' participation becomes a vital topic in current educational study. However, in practical English classroom teaching, there is a common phenomenon that students don' t participate into class actively, teachers are the main participant in class. And most people don' t have a clear understanding of students' participation. Even though we can see the active and lively classroom, it actually does not get to the objectives of students' participation. The main teaching way in school education is classroom teaching, and the efficiency of classroom teaching largely relies on students' participation. Therefore it is necessary to study the current situation of students' participation, and find the teaching problems so as to improve teaching and learning efficiency.The thesis chooses one senior high school of Zhun Ge Er Qi in Inner Mongolia as the research subjects. The thesis uses investigation, interview to know about students' participation in English classroom teaching ofsenior high school. Through professor Kong Qiping' s understanding of students' participation, the students' participation in this thesis reflects in cognition, behavior and emotion. Therefore the main contents in this thesis are to know about the current situation of students' participation; to know whether there exists correlation among these three aspects; to know the factors influencing students' participation. The results show that the overall participation are very low. More specifically, students show low cognitive and low emotional participation; students show more intensive study than absorbing in having class in behavioral participation; in cognitive participation, students show more superficial- level strategies and dependent on others than deep-level strategies; in emotional participation,students show more positive participation than negative participation. The results analysis of correlation participation show that there exists strong correlation between cognitive participation and behavioral participation,and between cognitive participation and emotional participation; there also exists correlation between behavioral participation and emotional participation. The results also show that there are many factors influencing students' participation, including the type of class, students' personality,gender of students, students' performance and teacher factors. Among these factors, students' learning performance performs a large part influencing students' participation.Finally, through the analysis of research results, the thesis put forwardsome suggestions to improve students' participation in senior English classroom teaching.
