Education is a kind of social activity which is supposed to train and foster human beings. The characteristic of modern education is to endeavor to find and dig out students'potentiality based on enormous comprehension of students'potential development. In other words, modern education should make great effort to guide and instruct students to have a full involvement in learning. Throughout 20th century, we will find that the students'positive participation is the product of pursuing educational democracy, fair and equal chance in the process of modern education. It is the ideal target that modern education seeks for, taking students'fully development as the final purpose. Students'participation is the basic form of individual's involvement in learning and practice activities, and is the most essential form of presenting its dominant status in education. It implies the significant curriculum ideology of classroom teaching: activity, democracy, freedom. A real learning should be the one that the students must participate and involve in the teaching procedure. Only if they indeed do in this way, can the efficiency of class teaching activity be promoted. That is why current Chinese New English Curriculum Reform regards"students'participation"as the core ideology of curriculum implementation. As only if the students fully participate in English classroom teaching, they can play the main role in the process of Foreign Language Teaching. Therefore, their interest in learning English can be deeply motivated, and these comprehensive abilities of cooperation, communication, probing and problem-resolving can be cultivated. By this way, English teaching is ensured to be effective, efficient and scientific.Students'participation plays essential role in English classroom teaching, which has attracted many scholars'attention. Therefore, this paper illustrates the conception, certain relative theories and studies of learner's participation. Through a questionnaire, classroom observation and certain interview, the current situation of learners' participation in Senior English Teaching is narrated and analyzed in the three perspectives of behavior participation, cognition participation, and emotion participation. The conclusion is as this: currently the students in senior high school do not participate so much in the English teaching class. There is obvious difference between students in different genders and in different English levels in terms of their participation in English class. At the same time, it proves that students'behavior participation, cognition participation, and emotion participation are closely related between each other. Furthermore, some discussion and detailed analyses to the result of the study are provided, so does a summarization, an implication, drawbacks and limitation of this study.
