It was the first time that China's Education Ministry has brought up the concept of the core literacy education in Education Ministry's Advice on the Morality Education to Implement and Deepen the Reform of New Curriculum in 2014.The core literacy education serves as another top design after the Basic Education and Three Dimensional Education.With the senior political discipline being the principle way to the moral education, high-school political core literacy education is concerned with the civilization cultivation,construction of socialist democracy and the future of our country.Thus,it matters a lot how to improve the effectiveness of the political core literacy education aiming to the problems in the practice especially in the new era.Since the United States is thought to be one of the earliest countries with an intact citizenship education system, it serves as the production which maintains the bourgeois system and accommodates the national conditions in USA.Since China and America are totally different in the political system and ideology, by no means do we simply copy the theories and practical experience form America's citizenship education.However, it deserves us to learn from its scientific theories and its methods which are in accordance with the law of education when we promote the High-School Political Core Literacy Education. In this thesis,selecting the citizenship education of American secondary school as the research object,the author adopted the literature survey,comparative study,action research,etc. as the study methods,briefly reviewed the development of the citizenship education,stressed on its orientation and features and put forward with constructive suggestions and the situations after combining with the real situation in China's high-school political core literacy education.This thesis is divided into four parts. The introduction involves the researchpurpose,significance,literature review, study methods,innovation points,concept definition as well as the theological basis.In the second chapter,through looking back to the development o America's citizenship education, the features of every periods in USA is summarized briefly.The third chapter stresses on the orientation and features of American citizenship education.Led by the mainstream values,American citizenship education demonstrates the diversity of the guidance of the educational objects,the contents and the effectiveness of the methods with the center of the interest of the country.The last chapter is designed as the enlightenment from the American citizenship education to our high-school political core literacy education.For one thing, this chapter will introduce China's high-school political core literacy education, including the contents as well as the concrete actions which challenge educators' teaching ideas,the teaching contents and the teaching methods.For another, we badly need to renew the education concept,improve the education consciousness, integrate teaching resources, stress on the reform of the new curriculum,enhance the teaching methods and cultivate the modern citizens.
