Research On American Career And Technical Education

With the continuous development of the global economy,the development and reform of vocational education is also getting more and more attention and concern in many countries.The United States as the world’s number one capitalist country,its political,economic,military and other advantage and education are inseparable,especially in career and technical education made great achievements,directly conveying a large number of high quality technical talents.The purpose of this research is to study the history process and current situation of the development and reform of career and technical education of America,and to summarize the successful experience and draw the inspiration for the development of vocational education in China.The career and technical education of American is the combination of "career education" and "technical education",to prepare all the students for their employment and further study.The original public high school and community college are the foundation of CTE,it strengthen the horizontal communication of general education and vocational education,realized the secondary education and postsecondary education of the longitudinal connection;through a variety of ways to integrate academic and vocational courses,not only provide academic and practical combination of course,at the same time,it provides effective career orientation and career guidance for students,reflects the philosophy of education of lifelong education.Since the United States established Vocational Education Association for promotion in 1906 to renamed vocational education as career and technical education in 2006,after the initial,improve,reform and revitalization of the four development periods,the United States has formed a perfect career and technical education system with each passing day.So far,the career and technical education of American has constructed structured and mutual accommodation of the implementing agencies;developed the courses that contains 16 career clusters and 81 career pathways;established professionals and high-quality teachers team;formed schools,enterprises and the government and other parties to participate in cooperation personnel training mode.At present,our country is committed to building a modern vocational education system,in order to achieve the "two hundred years" goal to provide personnel protection.It is an effective way to promote the rapid development of vocational education in our country by studying the experience of the development and reform of American CTE.At this stage,the reforms of vocational education in China need to develop and improve the vocational education laws and regulations;strengthen links between educational institutions;strengthen links between vocational courses and general courses;establish and complete the standard of professional abilities of vocational education teachers;developing and sharing resources of vocational education.
