Quick development of information technology in current society brings deep influence on the education field. How to make an efficient combination of information technology and academy education has become a high priority of modern education research. Geometry studies the shape,size and location of objects in the real world, of which stereometry plays an import part in cultivating students ' ability of spacial visualization and perception. The abstract and obscure stereometry requires corresponding ability of space imagination and abstract thinking. It is said that stereometry belongs to a difficult course because the students are influenced by the plane geometry course and teaching tools' limitation also has a negative impact on the instruction.With the development of technology, computer 's capability of dealing with space problems has been gradually being improved from 2D plane to3 D stereoscopic space. 3D technology has sustained a powerful life and penetration once it was generated. Now it is applied to movie, cartoon,architecture, game and so forth. As a mature information technology,stereometry also gains great attention from educational circle. Internet technology accelerates the dissemination of 3D technology and its applications.The author believed that it is necessary to combine 3D technology into stereometry teaching, tried to solve the existing obstacle in the combination by using an effective 3D software-- 3dsmax, and hoped it could improve the troditional instrution in primary and middle schools.The thesis consists of 5 chapters. Chapter 1 is the introduction, which analyzes the related research background and summarizes documents of the present situation in multimedia-assistant teaching at home and abroad. It establishes the main body of the research-- stereometry teaching with the assistance of 3D technology. Chapter 2 describes basic concepts and fundamental theories, which briefly sketches 3D technology and stereometry. By analyzing the current domestic classroom teaching situation and related achievements, the author summarizes the fundamental theory ofnecessity of using multimedia and puts forward the suggeation on the basis of teaching experiences. In the chapter, the autor also briefly demonstrates the existing 3D softwares and finally selects 3dsmax as the tool of the study.Chapter 3 explains how to construct 3dsmax models to assist stereometry teaching. It presents how to draw such basic stereometric structures as boxes and circular cones and how to apply to stereometry teaching. Chapter4 is about the teaching practice. 3D software fits in teaching design and actual practice. Chapter 5 is about the teaching realized by utilizing multimedia materials. And questionnaire survey is used in analysis of teaching effect and value.In the end, it gives a conclusion about the research.
