Children with autism have the advantage of visual learning,so the intervention method with “visual support” strategy has been widely used.Social story is a typical representative of intervention method which has “visual support”.Social story has many kinds of forms,and one of the forms is social story picture books.Social interaction and communication skills are essential to the social development and the realization of social goals for children with autism,and we should target this deficit as early as possible.In foreign and Taiwan district,there have been many studies which engaged in the application of social story picture books aiming at social interaction and communication skills,and made positive result.Conversely,there are few studies on the mainland.Therefore,how to effectively build social skills intervention model based on social story picture book for children with autism is the current urgent research.Firstly this study used the literature research,analyzed the current research status of social skills,social story and picture books.On this basis,combining with instructional design model of Dick Carry,the social skills intervention plan for children with autism based on the social story was constructed.Starting from the learning needs of children with autism,the intervention program for children with autism consists of three kinds of life scenes about real life.Then,according to the social skills intervention program,the study adopted the single subjects experiment design method,selected five research participants from a rehabilitation center for children with autism in Hang Zhou,and launched the social skills experiment using social story picture books as media materials.The results shows that:(1)social story picture books can effectively promote social skills for children with autism;(2)it is difficulty for children with autism to initiate social behavior;(3)Compared with better learned skills to master,poor expressive skills acquisition.This study enriched the theory of social skills intervention on children with Autism.The educational plan in this study can be directly applied in children with autism.The plan is easily to operate,enlarge the scope of training place from special school and rehabilitation center to family,and increase the length of excise,provide strong support for children with autism to go back to the mainstream society.
