Since ancient times, education relates to gender, and people have different opinions about the education between boys and girls. With the development of new curriculum reformation, all sectors of society start to survey the education with the consciousness of social gender, and pay attention to the relationship between gender and study. Indeed, the gender difference is the most significant factor to influence the individual study, therefore, people should emphasize the education of gender consciousness and attach great importance to the gender factors in education in order to improve the quality of education. The gender consciousness will influence the teaching concept and teaching behavior, however, the majority of teachers have ignored it in teaching, thus, the teacher's gender consciousness plays an important role in teaching.The thesis proceeds from the aspect of teacher's gender consciousness, makes a status investigation about the circumstance of “gender education” of primary school English teachers, and study teachers' teaching performance through distributing questionnaires,interviewing, and observing teachers' teaching behaviors, meanwhile collecting data and analyzing the gender consciousness of English teachers in primary schools, in order to state that today's English teachers of primary schools have problem in “gender education”, and analyzes the reasons in allusion to problems. It tries to study feasible countermeasures and proposals, and let English teachers' in primary schools attach importance to gender difference in order to help themselves to carry out teaching, and let boys and girls have common development in studying English.This thesis contains following content: Taking the “gender consciousness” as its starting point, the introduction mainly presents the background, purposes, significance and creativity of this research. The thesis is divided into four chapters: The first chapter discusses the literature review of “gender education”, it defines some related concepts: gender consciousness, gender stereotypes, “gender education”. Meanwhile, it summarizes and teases some research status at home and abroad that are related to “gender education” and rethinks the existing research. The second chapter is the theoretical part. It discusses the influence of“gender education” on students' English study, and probes the influence of gender difference on studying English from physical and psychological factors of boys and girls. And for this reason to support the further research of “gender education” of English teachers in primary schools. The third chapter is the status investigation. It tries to investigate English teachers' gender consciousness and “gender education” situation through questionnaire survey andteachers' interview. Meanwhile, it also contains a case study of teachers that can investigate“gender education” situation of teachers more detailed, in order to enhance persuasion. Then,it summarizes the studying difference between boys and girls through students' questionnaire.The forth chapter is the analysis of the current problems and reasons. It finds that English teachers in primary schools have “gender education” problems through the analysis of literature review and status investigation, and analyzes reasons from teachers themselves in allusion to these problems. Then, it puts forward feasible countermeasures and proposals to English teachers in primary schools, in order to change the traditional teaching concept and promote boys and girls to develop better. Finally, this study ends with the summary and reflection of this research, points out the deficiencies in the research process, and puts forward further research prospect.
