The topic, theoretical inquiry and some implementation plans for adding eastern Hopei music into school-based curriculums, uses a unique perspective in observation and research.Related to the ethnomusicology, the topic not only reflects the new theory emphasized by<New curriculum standards of primary and secondary school music teaching(2011)>,but also aims at making up the loss of China's insufficient folk-music education in primary and middle school.Considering the current situation of eastern Hopei music research,we can conclude that older domestic scholars has many a research achievement on eastern Hopei music, but most of the them focus on a specific area(on drama, traditional opera, folk song, instrument music etc.).We can hardly find a research which is comprehensive and exhaustive. It is such a pity of that especially when there is no research combining basic music education with eastern Hopei music. The latest Curriculum Standards of Primary and Secondary School Music Teaching(2011)points out that we should mainly focus on the education in excellent Chinese folk music in order to develop Chinese traditional folk music and comprehend the diversity of music culture.Teachers should consider the concrete condition of their regions, nations and schools, take full advantage of local teaching resources, and create a musical atmosphere both inside and outside the school. They should also enrich their teaching content by adding regional or ethnic cultural elements and control curriculum content in every education field, acting according to local circumstancesMusic Curriculum Standards of Full-time Compulsory Education(2011),issued by the Ministry of Education, indicates that besides state curriculums, regions and schools ought to set a certain proportion of curriculums designed independently...80%?85%of the textbooks should be compiled according to the Music Curriculum Standards of Full-time Compulsory Education, another 15%?20%is to be compiled by local departments and schools.Based on the requirement of two Standards mentioned above,it is undoubtedly logical to adopt measures to develop local music curriculums throughout China. For various reasons, however, few have been put into practice universally. The stimulating independent development of local textbooks plan has been placed 'on the shelf',namely, difficult to implement. In this thesis, eastern Hopei music resources exploitation is regarded as a cut-in point and some discussion of relative researches on adding eastern Hopei music into school-based curriculums are given. On the basis of her own concrete practice and experience in teaching music, the author not only summarizes the main points of this academic field but also sublimate it theoretically to put eastern Hopei music into school-based curriculums.Music Curriculum Standards of Full-time Compulsory Education(2011)points out that local folk music resources should be applied in school music teaching,in order to create a musical atmosphere for students from their early childhood. In addition,Curriculum Standards of Primary and Secondary School Music Teaching(2011)also emphasizes the importance of making full use of local music resources in music appreciation, singing and instrument playing. It encourages schools to organize folk-art-collecting activities or collect and learn the great local music pieces.Music is an important carrier to pass on humanity culture to younger generations.Learning Chinese traditional music which has both historical and profound significance contributes to student's ardent love of Chinese culture. What's more,by appreciating rich and varied local music, students can have a better knowledge of the music history in their homeland. An overall view of the world cultural development tells us an outstanding nation is sure to have a brilliant accomplishment.Music is exactly one of the accomplishments, which can be described as a radiant pearl decorated on the crown of culture.Traditional music has a crucial position in the conservation project of the intangible cultural heritage in the world.Nevertheless,Chinese traditional music(including eastern Hopei music)is facing a serious crisis:dying out.As an educator in music education, one is obliged to put local music into school-based curriculums.Traditional music is a fundamental subject for all music educators as well as plays a vital role in the primary and middle school education. Therefore, the significance of the research in this thesis is both practical and theoretical. These years,Tangshan, the city where the author lived in,successfully hosted Tangshan China Ceramics Exposition and Pingju Festival. The success pushes Tangshan cultural market development to a peak.Additionally,as music educators,we attach great importance to the functions of music culture in people's lives.Tangshan, the place where Pingju originated, inspires us to broaden our horizon to large eastern Hopei land. There are three well-known brilliant art forms in eastern Hopei which is likened to 'three flowers':Pingju,Tangshan Shadow Play and Laoting Drums, all of which are excellent and distinctive works. It is our music educators' job and responsibility to spread and inherit them,as a part of the cultural inheritance.Author's working place,No.30 Middle School,is the only 9-year continuous education school(in which students can study from primary school to junior middle school)in Tangshan. Its unique continuous education is extremely suitable for folk music teaching in primary and middle school and the most
