Historical map is an important part of high school history textbooks and a useful tool of history learning, which helps to improve the quality of the high school history teaching. Historical map improves in flux as the versions of history textbook. Basing on the history textbooks for high schools which published by people's education press,I have carried on the comparative study of the 2000 th version map and the 2007 th version map.The content of this paper consists of six parts. The first part is the introduction that constituted by the cause of the problem,the purpose and significance of this research,and the research methods.The second part is the literature review,which explained the definition of map and historical map and reviewed the literature in three aspects. As the main content of the paper, the third part, which based on the 2000 th version map and the 2007 th version map, analyses changes and the cause of its changes,and the proportion of world historical map and modern historical map was changed.Besides,analyzing the feature of historical map those increased or decrease in2007 th version. It is concluded that the decrease in the number of the latter than the former, the presentation changes, and these changes happen more conducive to the students' cognitive and teachers' teaching. The forth part is the comparison of two versions of the textbook and the difference. Basing on these differences, two suggestions are put forward for history teaching, the proper use of historical maps,and train the student to the historical map to use. The fifth part concludes that changes have taken place in the 2007 th version map, which compared with the 2000 th version map. In quantity, the overall decline, the number of books disparity is very big, the proportion of the world map of the historical map also greatly improved. On the presentation, from black and white figure into color map, historical maps of the position are no longer confined to the text and began to appear in each part. The proportion of world historical map and modern historical map was increased.Basing on the historical map in the textbooks, teachers in the teaching process should also change the way of using historical map, to make the way of teaching adapts to the needs of curriculum changes. The sixth part is epilogue.
