In recent years, with the more and more research on the teaching of history including the history textbook research, the research angle and method are different key. Historical illustrations both history textbooks or in the teachers and students has an important role. This paper focuses on the high school history textbook illustrations in Taiwan, in the Han Lin version and the mainland people education edition as an example, the two versions of the illustrations for comparative study. From student group characteristics, historical illustrations and text matching and other aspects of in-depth analysis, learn from each other, in order to improve the understanding of historical illustrations from all walks of life.This paper is divided into three parts. The first part of the historical illustrations from the definition and classification defines, emphasizing the historical illustrations is an important part of history textbooks, the second, and effect of illustrations in textbooks from the historical status of educational theory and teaching practice to do thorough analysis. The second part is the comparison according to the type of historical illustrations of two different versions of historical illustrations. The third part Based on the comparison results, on the two version of the historical illustrations in common and their own characteristics, are summarized, and the enlightenment.Hope that through the comparison of PEP and Han Lin version of historical illustrations draw their respective advantages, do our bit for the history textbook illustration design.
