Discussions On Social Work Interns' Role In Community Work

Social work practice as an important part of social work education, every year a lot of social work interns enter the communities to develop their professional practice.However, due to various reasons, social work interns playing the role of quasi-social workers will encounter many difficulties and imbalances of this role and resulting in service activities can not be carried out smoothly.Thus affecting the quality and effectiveness of their internship.The author use both its own actual situation and the same period students' practice,it explores the role of social work interns in the community service.This article in accordance with the role theory.Above all,it linked the conditions of community practice to investigate the difference between the role of social work interns and the role of social works as well as other different roles played by interns.Then,we analysis on the role predicament of social work interns at the role-playing encountered in the process.And noted the role of social worker interns will appear role unclear,role conflict,role gap,role strain, role supercharged this five roles imbalances.Next,the author analysis the reasons for the above problems,mainly in the following four levels of reasons:first, the government level,lack of the awareness of social work, as well as the promotion and the support;second,the community level,because of the low level of awareness and understanding of the social work and the complexity of the community environment;third,the school level,due to the internship arrangements unreasonable and the supervise teacher own lack of experience in the theory and practice;fourth,interns individual level,because of the insufficient of professional theory and practical experience and low comprehensive ability.At last,the author thinks the government should increase investment in social work advocacy and support.Secondly, the community management staff should change concepts and the residents should giveaffirmative to interns.Also,schools should improve the system of internships,and supervisory teacher should strive to enhance the supervision capacity.And,individuals should preparing to play the role,and also to enhance their comprehensive abilities.The author hope this article can provide some reference for later interns.So that they can successfully carry out their practice.And they can provide better and more professional service to the community.
