The Role Of Social Workers In Community Governance

The current community governance in our country has made some achievements,and how to improve the scientific level of community governance is a key point which related to community development in under the new situation.With the concept of profession and the scientific method,social work can maintain well community harmony and stability by providing support for the service object,and this is the key to the scientific community governance.Multiple role-play of social work injected fresh blood to the traditional community governance.Therefore,this article will be "the role of social work in the community governance" as the research core.Role theory deems that individuals are in a particular position with a certain code of conduct,and social environment and individual influence role behavior.With the social workers,residents and residents' committees,practicing students and volunteers as the research object and depth interview method to collect first-hand information,,this article uses role theory to analyze social workers' role plays in the community governance.At the time,the article will evaluate the adaptation and distance between ideal role and actual role.in order to analyze better the role behavior,the article discusses the influence of external environmental factors,such as the government,communities,institutions and internship students,volunteers,on role play.The study found that in the current community governance,the social workers play the multiple roles.As servers,supporters,investigators,resources links and so on are to meet the expectations of the society.Social workers' role is continually enriching,and have different roles focus in different phases of governance,so the role play and transition should be chosen according to the actual circumstance of the community.The study also found that in community governance,the role of social work is affected by the environment and individual ability.On the environment,the roles are influenced by government,the residents' committees,residents,institutions,practicing students and volunteers.Supporting environment plays an promoting role in role plays.However,due to lack of awareness of social work,the government support is not enough,the residents' committees' nonsupport,the lack of supervision from institution and the like cause the distance to actual role and ideal role.The limitation of individual ability and the sufficient of individual's commitment on the role meanwhile restrict the achievement of the ideal role.In view of the gap between roles playing of social work,we need make efforts from the government,communities,institutions and individual.The government should give support in policy for social work,and normalize the status and role of social work.The community should strengthen the propaganda of social work,and form the correct cognition of social work.As well,the community should offer support for social work practice,and reduce the obstacles in the process of role playing.Institution should perfect the operating system,and provide supervision for social work timely.Social workers should study constantly,and make oneself have the ability and behavior that role play needs,and increase the mental concentration of role play.Looking for the corresponding measures according to the environment and individual which influence the role play can be better safeguard the role of social workers in community governance.
