Chinese women began to enter the school to receive formal education at the end of the Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. The textbooks, especially for women, also appeared. This kind of textbook had a short history. With girls and boys entering into the same school, the textbook disappeared. However, this special textbook played an important role in Chinese education history. It is the continuation of the ancient traditional female reading, but it also had the feature of modern textbooks.Textbook, the most important study materials for school education, is an important carrier of cultural inheritance. From this point, this paper had comprehensive analysis about girl's textbook. By the selection of themes of article and literary genre and the design of word and pictures, the traditional culture was reflected in girl's textbook. Such as traditional virtue, saints image, aesthetic education, Chinese characters and festival culture and so on. Textbook reflects the interaction between education and culture. The purpose of this study is to show us female reading at special period in history and to look for the footprint of cultural inheritance and evolution by textbooks. What's more, there is some thinking about the improvement of primary school textbook and how to develop and expand Chinese traditional culture today. We should pay more attention to the gender differences in textbooks to improve the textbook's quality, increase the content of traditional culture to enrich textbook, adhere to the open spirit of Chinese culture, and make full use of education for innovating the form of cultural heritage to promote traditional culture modernization.
