Class teacher system is important in our primary and middle schools. The teacher in charge plays a critical role in teaching and management. However, many teachers do not want to be a class teacher. In essence, the class teacher has little cognition or bias to their roles. Based on the role consciousness perspective and the social role theory, a survey through questionnaire and interview is conducted to analyze the current situation and the affecting factors of the class teacher role consciousness. Accordingly, advises to strengthen the role consciousness are put forwarded.Discussions on the class teacher role consciousness is divided into five parts:the cognition of the role status,the understanding of the role worth,the cognition of the role standard,the recognition of the role behavior,and the experience of the role feeling. The report shows a low level cognition of the role status,especially the economical status,mid-level understanding of the role worth and unbalance cognition of the role standard, additionally, conformity is found between their role behavior and the cognition of role model, and their experience of the role feeling is at mid-level.By correlation analysis, significant connections are found between the role awareness and a series of factors----the role expectation and assessment from the society,the interpersonal atmosphere in school, the effect of the colleagues and student, their personality and occupational needs.To improve the situation, the thesis suggests that educational authorities should perfect the Responsibility System, Salary System and Qualification System, and provide the professional training. Meanwhile, the media can help form a respecting teacher atmosphere,and parents should make a positive coordination.Also,a reasonable arrangement and harmonious environment in school and their self endeavor are indispensable.
