For a long time, teachers were always subject to constraints in the curriculum. It is until 2001 that the new round curriculum reform putting forward the three-class curriculum management system bestowed curriculum power on teachers. With this change, researches about teachers' abilities of curriculum leadership has become more and more important through scholars. And these researches are in favour of development of education in our country, proper comprehension of “ability of teachers” and growth of teachers.Previous scholars' studies on teachers' abilities of curriculum leadership almost focused on subjects, such as: principal, primary school teachers rather than secondary school teachers. Therefore, to enrich this field of research, this thesis selects secondary school teacher as research subject.Secondary school teachers' abilities of curriculum leadership is the leading and guiding ability to participate curriculum design,curriculum development, curriculum implementation and curriculum evaluation, so that the high quality of curriculum, the promotion of education quality, the major growth of secondary school teachers and student's quality can be achieved. It is mainly includes five kinds of ability: curriculum value judgment, curriculum design choices,curriculum development and integration, curriculum implementation leading and curriculum evaluation.In order to understand the situation of secondary school teachers' abilities of curriculum leadership, questionnaire was designed which have five elements in building secondary school teachers' abilities of curriculum leadership. The teachers from somewhere of city, county and township of Hunan province was selected as investigation objects.The results showed that secondary school teachers' abilities of curriculum leadership is in the medium level, but it still has five problems in practicing.They are poor curriculum value judgment, curriculum design decisions, insufficient curriculum development and integration, lack of curriculum implementation guide ability and curriculum evaluation reflection.Through the questionnaire and interview,those problems was due to not only the lack of help and support of economy, policy and relevant personnel, but also the restriction of the existing school system, school culture, and insufficient of secondary school teachers' professional quality.Finally,promotion strategy was put forward in the article based on the analysis of this research and according to the secondary school teachers' abilities of curriculum leadership problems. Teachers should, based on the school and student's reality, set up the correctvalues courses, improve the curriculum value judgment, improve curriculum design choices, establish a learning community and improve the curriculum implementation leadership, form the effective evaluation reflection mechanism, and improve the curriculum evaluation reflection.At present, there are still many deficiencies to put secondary school teachers' abilities of curriculum leadership in practice. While teachers are the backbone of the education reform, it is necessary to adhere the principle of specific solutions for specific problems to put forward the effective mode of secondary school teachers' abilities of curriculum leadership. In a word, research on secondary school teachers' abilities of curriculum leadership is a study that need developing. It has great influence on improvement of education quality and promotion of reform of new curriculum.
